Bethany (REU), Shawn (SOURCE), Leo (SOURCE), and Samara (SOURCE/LSAMP) all made important contributions to the lab’s research this summer and did a great job presenting!

They will continue their work on SMP foam degradation and expand their research skillset this fall.

We enjoyed a hike, viewing frogs and snakes, watching birds, eating lunch, and kayaking together!

Sevde will develop antimicrobial and degradable shape memory polymer foams for traumatic wound healing.

Bethany is a biochemistry major at Wilkes College. She will be working with Thalma on mechanochromic shape memory polymers this summer.

Dr. Monroe presented on her NIH and DoD funded work related to hemorrhage control in traumatic wounds.
